Plastics news - plastics company news and packaging news on Plastixportal. Pharmaceutical companies in South Africa are reconsidering their pallet management strategy after numerous recalls due to TBA-contamination. Last year, Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc recalled 40,000 bottles of pills, including 24 000 bottles of the schizophrenia drug Risperdal. The company stated that the problem was an “uncharacteristic odor thought to be caused by trace amounts of TBA (2,4,6tribromoanisole)” found in wooden pallets.

Zanogen News - machine knives experts advice !

ADVICE BROUGHT TO YOU FROM THE EXPERTS AT ZANOGEN MACHINE KNIVES.

Machine Knives experts at ZanogenThe recycling industry is one of the most diverse markets due to the number of different granulator machines available.  Rob Barclay, Sales Manager at Zanogen Machine Knives, tells Plastixportal, “Always get advice from O.E.M’s before purchasing your granulator machine.  Different granulator machines recycle different plastics, ensure that the granulator machine you purchase is correct for the type of plastic you will be recycling.”

Zanogen Machine Knives manufacture blades for granulator machines.  They have accumulated a library of blade drawings that enable easy identification for specific machines.  It also assists in ensuring our blades are manufactured to the original size, especially when the O.E.M drawings are not available.

Ashley Parker, Sales Executive at Zanogen Machine Knives, tells Plastixportal about the most common problems he has experienced in the recycling industry, “Blades are sometimes worn down too much before they are sent for sharpening.  This causes two problems, firstly when a blade is dull instead of cutting the plastic it generates heat and melts the plastic which clogs the screen.  The heat generated causes the bearings to overheat, resulting in failure.  Secondly, the worn blade will result in more material being removed during sharpening which reduces the life of the blade.”  Parker encourages companies using granulator machines to have at least three sets of blades, “One set in the machine, one set waiting to go into the machine and one set at Zanogen for sharpening.”
